Tallinn

Chair in the Viking Terminal Lounge

Two hour boat ride to Tallinn. We were told it was a short walk to the old town but I could not see it so foolishly jumped on a waiting hop on off bus, which reminded me of some of the Mexican buses with regard to its condition. Another waster. Some history and some culture all of which I will forget in a couple of hours. Half the time you could not hear the speaker because the bus was so noisy. Everyone had said in advance that the old town was charming. All I saw was a modern city with traffic and some interesting buildings.

After hop on off I decided to walk to the old town and eventually found some of the charm of the cobblestone streets and gift shops plus outdoor restaurants. Too cold to sit outside without heaters.  Stopped and had a French press coffee which was excellent. Wandered about and then back to the ship terminal where we waited for awhile.

Burger Bar

Looking around it appears that the daily run of the Viking line is a alcohol run. Which is why so few take cabins. They then just sit on their cases on the return trip. People with small carry on luggage, others with a luggage roller and cases of beer.

Would not do this again.
Aside from being a liquor run it also seems
be a carrier for large commercial trucking
